fate.

My feet are made out of lead A heart, made out of solid ice With eyes constantly looking for prey In a game of cats and mice When I caught your tail Slowly putting you in my mouth You were alive, but you didn’t make a sound I swallowed you up, but still no shouts With such grace and acceptance You took on your death and mine Created a love without malice Made this rusted beast shine I kept you tucked under my rib Where you picked away at my scabs Undid all my roots, untied all my knots Gave meaning to life, at last Without struggle, without a word You picked up my heavy heart Never letting me hit the ground Never letting me fall apart The light to the end of the tunnel Was you, who was waiting for me I was your purpose to live The heart that kept you steady From a lion I became a flower With your soft, able hands You were the soil to give me life The only one to make me stand.
