Fate

A page full of wishes
Is torn half away
A dress once called silver
Is faded to gray

My lips are parted
With nothing to say
The churches fall silent
No one left to pray

Ashes and ruin
Lie all around
The remnants of life
Become dust on the ground

This is the cycle
There’s no other course
The sinners are rulers
No guilt, no remorse

The way things have been
The way they always will be
All eyes are open
But it’s too dark to see

So we go on
We just let things lie
Because, in the end,
We’re fated to die.
