The Fate Of The Stars.
I watch night fall,
bathing in refracted moonlight,
and turn my gaze toward the stars.
I wonder at their glimmering light,
their death glow,
alighting upon the wildlife below.
And what a terrible, terrible thing to know,
the fate of the stars.
The pale afterglow of those so far gone.
And I wonder,
do they know?
And what a terrible, terrible thing to know,
the fate of themselves.
The haunting ghost of those long gone.
Gone, but not forgotten,
for their light fell upon the wildlife below
and those that looked upwards proclaimed it the Heavens.
They threw desperate prayer toward the light
of Heavenly Host,
And they thought of stars as Gods.
They fell to their knees
begging favors of ghosts.
They didn't yet know-
What a terrible, terrible thing to know-
the fate of the stars.
And so I here I stand
watching night fall,
and I wonder,
I wonder at the fate of the stars.
