Fateful September

We ended when the side of him I fell in love with faded away,

and the only thing left was the side who didn't care to see another day.

I feel like waiting with my door unlocked,

but I know if it was wide open I wouldn't hear your knock.

You're a dream that I barely remember,

only glimpses of that fateful September.

I could be dreaming of all the wrong you've done.

Instead I'm telling our story to everyone.

I've never hated love so much,

until I felt your deathly touch.

I've spent a lifetime chasing after you,

but you're gone no matter what I do.

With a drug like you there's not a second to wait

so bad for my body yet so sweet to the taste.

I never imagined myself to become this,

hating you but longing for that unforgiven kiss.

Tonight I've been missing you.

Yes I know it's nothing new.

Being with you changed me,

not for the better as you can see.

Some mornings I felt my night was imagined.

The marks on my neck were the only proof I hadn't.

My heart was right in your hand,

Yet there's still something I don't understand.

Is better to love a man who's gone,

or to love a man whom you know is doing you wrong?
