The Father

The fire inside my eyes
Darkens as I speak
When I speak the oceans rise
And fall at my feet
When they fall I pick them up
And scatter them all around
A drop of love for every broken soul
To show them what they’re worth
The tears that they have shed on every single pillow
All fall into my hands and mix with my own
No simple cure to end it
End the pain they feel inside
But I will hold them in my arms
And rock them through the night
My love is never-ending
Never ends and never fails
I would give anything
To see my children smile
