Father Figures

I remember playing at the park

watching other kids get pushed on the swings by their dad

man that shit really tore my heart apart

becuase back home I heard screams from my mothers room

meanwhile im playing with brother in the dark

we would have the lights on but we would see too much

not to mention the power didnt work

no food in the fridge but at least the school still provided us lunch

and I know that my life seems pretty rough

but momma always told us we could get by on just enough

see my dad he was pretty tough

my momma tried her best but he'd still get a little too rough

but he cant help it right

all the alcohol and pills he would take every night to sooth to the anger

but it never worked and he treated my mother like she was some stranger

but then he left us all there for someone who was catfishing

and 9 months later we had a new addition

the baby came out and he already started kickin

and they swaddled him up like jesus in the manger

soon to find out he has autism and a heart full of anger

but i loved my little brother he was always full of joy

until daddy came back home and stepped on his toys

I watched his face get red and fill with rage

and stared in my brothers eyes as I watched tears fall down his face

with every single snap he screamed and jolted away

all of us kids were trumatized after that day

and still to this day

i look back at the father i had

and wish that i had better one to raise me

and then maybe

i wouldve turned out different and people wouldnt think im so bad
