Father Time

Her quivering flesh, controlled by the tricks of the light.
drowned by the voices in her head.
Gnawed by crumbling teeth and a bleeding tongue.
Strong as milk.

Lost
never to be found.
Friends have come and gone, or died.
The fates stole them from me.

In my twisted mind.
I can melt time.
break minutes
bend the hours
that control the world.

I smell smoke.
I forgot to shut the stove off.
The tea's steeped too long.

I caught my reflection
in the polished mahogany of the old grandfather clock.
It's glossy luster it silky to the touch,
like a lover’s stomach.
My feet want me to keep walking, escape the clock's paranoia.
It creaks and groans.
like a virgin laid to bed.
A flash of lips touching pale shoulders,
caressed hips.
Eyes meeting, sparks flying.
Im looking directly into father time
but noone's looking back at me.
I spin the flimsy hour hand.
backwards.
forwards.
back again.
time slows and the shadows stretch.
the gears deep within
shudder and clank.
I wonder what truly lies in the beast's belly.

I closed my eyes
And ripped time apart.

I took a hammer to the glossy clock,
made splinters of it’s corpse
Letting the glass rain down around me.
The ticking slowly died.
I've killed my only friend.
A mechanical lover I always hated.
hollow clanks echo down the tunnel.
I swear I saw a white rabbit,
lips were stained with blood.

I’m drowning in bolts and gears.
Staring into the carcass of my friend.
Something pulls me to my feet.
Fingers slowly unclasp from my knotted organs
waves of apathy wash over my shores.

Suddenly the hands are at my throat.

A faint gargle escapes cold lips.
A dead croak.
Rewinding and fast forwarding
out of control.

I opened my eyes.
To find my reflection staring back at me.
in the polished mahogany of the old grandfather clock.
