Father Time
Father Time,
Mother Mary's shrine.
That's all I've had
through my grind.
Neglected by my peers,
not appreciated for my tears.
Last tear I dropped
I was age eight,
ran away through the fire escape,
trying to escape the flames,
all I could do was throw shame.
At my dead-beat father who never
called, no not even to claim.
Single mom pushing through the pain,
staying strong just for my sake.
Always knowing he'll never
be back again.
