Fatherless Showdown

A fatherless showdown.

He is around but he’s not.

His ghost still creeps in his body,

Mocking who he once was.

He cursed at me today,

threatened me yesterday,

Yet expects a hug when I arrive home.

My mother can’t stand it anymore,

Pushed to her breaking point

But is too afraid to leave.

Instead she stays, she obeys—

And I wait for her to shatter,

she cannot last forever.

I can't either.

Not alone at least.
