To compare myself to your radiance,
It's a task I can not even begin to undertake.
My words would never do you justice.
You are the ocean, full of creativity,
Full of beauty, limitless in your aptitude.
Your heart is the moon, moderating your actions.
Your anger is waves crashing upon my shore,
Crushing my every hope like wasted dunes.
I am the shore, hopelessly enamored.
I am rough, I have been done wrong,
Maybe as much as you have yourself.
I am not beautiful like you, nor am I as great
I know you are beyond me, so I only watch.
Just as soon as you touch me you're gone again.
But now I wonder, perhaps you've seen beyond,
Perhaps you've seen what treasures hide within me.
Maybe I am worth you, just maybe.
Like some chance fruit washed upon the shore,
Your love would be beyond my fathoming.
To have it bestowed upon me would be breaking.
I would split, and buckle, and all that I am would disappear.
Even with this in mind I can't help wondering.
Maybe you're waiting for me. Maybe I must crash.
