Favourite Dream

He was fast asleep

He did not sleep the whole night,

In wait of his favourite dream

That he could see again

Tonight;

By daybreak, he could not resist sleep,

He was tired.

I sat beside him for a long while

To hear his story

Just then, his face lit up,

He had begun to dream,

Was it the same dream

I could not ask

I had not seen any dream twice.

‘You were dreaming, I noticed.

Tell me about your dream’, I asked.

“It was a new dream.

I gave a chase but could not keep up,

With my thoughts; I lost my way.”

He was tense and I

Let him be.

What if he had outrun his thoughts?

I wondered.
