Façade

An illusion, an act, a cloak to hide everything

My world is like a maquerade, you can't tell what's underneath the surface

Underneath this mask is something you'll never get to see

I place veil over my thoughts, feelings and emotions

No one really knows anything deeper than the front I put up

Affcted bliss, determination, and strength is what I have to offer

Not everything is what I make it appear to be

The walls too high to climb, no one makes it over, being pushed away before they even had a chance

It's not all on purpose though, this façade is just way too big to knock down

I've tried time and time again, but the walls only get higher,

The mask only gets bigger

And the veil becomes less and less sheer

I am incapable of vulnerability

It gets lonely, but my pride is at stake

No one can see what I'm hiding, the risk is too high

This façade protects me from wandering eyes
