Fear of being a Woman

Momma said keep your head down. Don’t play in the streets, don’t take candy from strangers, count sheep if you can’t sleep. 
Don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t cheat, don’t yell, cause momma warned me about the dangerous things people did but not the dangerous things people said..
It’s a “monster” they told me. Every time I looked in the mirror, I saw it too. Every eye that glances at my body feels like bullets ripping through my flesh. The storms beneath my skin the sea raging through my chest. My eyes scream louder each time but no one hears me!
No one stops to help the girl that wears freedom...
Whispers through megaphones as if I cannot hear what you just called me. Yes, I know my weight is not the “idea” of perfect. Or that these leggings aren’t flattering, but I will still wear them because they fit. 
And yes my pant size isn’t what they advertised on T.V because it was my “mistake” not to listen when they would confidence to your insecurities! Because hate is taught and hate is what made me believe them... don’t you dare tell me “thick” is a trend when it’s the very thing you shame us for being. Don’t you dare tell us “big is beautiful” when you cannot except everything that comes with it. Don’t tell girls “your flaws are flawless” when you make them fix what isn’t broken. 
Your nose is too big
Your bra size isn’t big enough 
Your thighs touch and that’s gross
...cross your legs, don’t slouch
Don’t burp in public, behave yourself. 
You tell us to act like lady’s and to mind our own business, if we aren’t polite conversations we should just stay quite. 
I’m a young lady surrounded by a sea of sharks. If I make the wrong move I get shamed for it. Society has no filters just the ones on their pictures. And while your trying to make your life a pretty song, your using my soul to sing it.
