For Fear of None

Be weary of taking
Another step;
Don't speak a word,
For it may turn to dust at their feet.
These people,
With their piercing words,
deceptive smiles,
And dancing hearts
Only wish to leave you
Stranded in a dust bowl
Full of broken bones,
 And last year's heartaches.
Be weary but don't forget:
Their power only feeds on
Empty palms once filled with desire.
