To fear nothingness
They tell us to fear the darkness, the despair
They warn us of our anger and hate
They tell you of the sadness that consumes you to the core
That that is the scariest moment
That it is as bad as it will get
They lie
It is the nothingness, you should fear
It is the nothingness that pushes you to the edge
Every sensation exists, but outside of you
You are weak and tired, but will never sleep
Your body says it’s hungry, but you feel none of the hunger
The brief moments of feeling are bittersweet
For it lets you know you live, but in a world of despair
The nothingness, the nothingness…
That it returns is my greatest fear
