FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN

only me in a windy night

all alone in the dark

accompanied by a dog's bark

that feeling crosses my emotions

the feeling of being followed

dust getting in my eyes

as i look back to see if anyone is behind me

walking stone cold as a dead man: saying nothing

and saying yes to the whip of  tree branches under

the moonlight

a friend once told me

"fear is a disease"

now its terrorising my brain.

i am afraid of something i do not know

i fear just what i could call nothing

yet that nothing denies me peace of mind...

finally the light from our farm house brightens my face

and i know there was no need to

fear

at all
