Feast

Have you ever yelled across a field of snow?

A powdery expanse known to swallow you whole

Makes hiding easy

especially for the leaves

Fattens your throat and fingers

then swallows those too

This feast of sorts is a common occurrence

but no cause for caution

When the heavy tide of stars

rinses our city and

wrings light from bones of trees

you feel naught and sigh in relief
