The Feather

Borne within the wind, a feather falls,

Tumbling from the sky, its resting place calls.

Worn are its fibers, bleak its colors

But saved on the earth, by a pair of lovers.

Their love is strong, unvanquished, and pure,

The feather awaits, holding the cure.

As time destroys, laying love to waste,

The lovers’ heart’s desire a different taste.

But there on the mantle, the old feather lies,

Reminding the two of better highs.

And even time, the unconquerable demon,

Has met its match, for love is the beacon.
