Feel me
I bet you wonder what I'm doing here. A girl with no family just another mouth for the system to feed. I been on welfare since my mama gave me life. The struggle is all know no room for hope of a better life. I was lost. You see my tattered clothes and the pain in my eyes. No one can help me, where do I turn? Can't focus in school cause I gotta worry about getting jumped after my next period. Man life ain't easy in the hood. This is somethin serious. You tell me that I ain't talkin right cause you can't understand where I'm coming from. You see a poem but, I see a gun. I wanna shoot through the reasons why I'm here. I gotta get my message to someone who won't connect to me out of fear. Worried you gone see the truth in my words. Handcuffed in the back of a police car is where I got a second chance. I thought there was no way to let it all out. I had all these different issues haunting me day and night. Who was I going to tell? How would I fight? That's when I realized I could write it all out. Through the pages of a notebook I could tell somebody whats up. I ain't in jail of pregnant because, of poetry. Believe me yo it saved my life. The reason I'm here today is to share my story with you and everyone else. All you need is a reason to live.
