Feel the Rainbow

Dear Mr. Sir,

Why don’t you loosen up a little?

Why don’t you drop that briefcase?

Why don’t you smile like that little kid over there?

I know that’s probably an expensive suit and all, but let down that umbrella, just for a minute.

Open your arms wide, like the carefree child and consume the rain

Let your body soak in those vibrant colors

Listen to the splish splash on your umbrella

And realize that colorful liquid was meant for you

Banksy sees you Mr. Sir and laughs

Let your body feel each and every drop

Let your tongue taste the possibilities

Let it water your skin and make you jump with joy

Does the deep knock of your dress shoes on the sidewalk satisfy you?

You and the child are both breathing, but he’s the only one living

I feel such joy watching this child embrace life as it comes to him

This dark shield above your head is preventing you from real happiness

My eyes witness a scattered rainbow descending from heaven

I look up and forget my problems just for a moment

My ears hear the excited laughter of an innocent child

He’s right in front of you, I wish you could see him

The world was made with such care and love

For us to enjoy like this young boy

Open your arms and look up to the sky

Let us drop the umbrellas in our lives and be free

Sincerely,

                Stranger
