that feeling

Everyone has something that inspires them.

A person. A book. A feeling.

Mine is my little brother.

I watch this kid every day and I try to imagine his future.

Although some of it is beautiful,

I can't help but imagine the bad parts.

That's what drives me.

I want to try and do what I can

to make his future a little better.

I can't,

in no way,

say that its been a smooth lane in striving for my dreams.

I am a 15 year old senior in high school,

the youngest in my class.

Being about two years younger than everyone,

I feel as though I need to excel higher,

act different,

or be a certain way for anyone to take me seriously.

Even though I might feel like this

and it has put me in a down mood before,

I soon realize I am good the way I am.

Also, speaking in terms of now and the future,

I am a female,

which is a struggle enough in this modern world,

but I am also black.

The lack of respect and seriousness

that is given to a black woman is a challenge in its own.

However,

you know that feeling you get after accomplishing something

that took you forever or that you never thought you'd accomplish?

I keep going because I'm chasing that feeling.
