The Feeling Of Being A Parent
If your not a mother or a father.
You don't know the joys of their first smile
Or really know how sweet the sound is of them saying your name.
You don't know the eye watering sensation of hearing "I Love You" and seeing the innocent truth lying behind those expressive eyes.
Or be able to claim knowing what true, undying love is.
You don't know the joys of having to wash mashed potatoes out of their hair, and sometims their ears.
Or the shock at how easily they can get dirty, right after having a bath.
You don't know the astonishment of finding out your son or daughter is a child that likes to play rough, but doesn't notice all the bruises they acquire by just playing outside.
Or the hurt knowing that they don't need you to kiss their "booboos" anymore.
You don't understand the heart wrenching experience of being told, "I Hate You" for the first time in all the time they have been alive.
Or the astonishment of how much trouble they can get themselves into in just an hour.
You don't know the regret of knowing you could've done better to give your child a better life, or the pain in believing it's your fault for all the bad that they have done in their lives.
You just don't know how those who've lost their children feel when they find out and they have to bury them before they have the chance to tell them they love them or even goodye.
Or what it feels like knowing about all those kids going missing and turning up dead, thinking and fearing that could have been my baby.
If you're not a mother or a father, you just don't know what it could possibly feel like.
