Feeling Fire

Everyone tells her to hold it all in

As if feeling emotions is such a mortal sin

Their words like fire

As they burn deep inside her

To them it is a spark too small to light

To her it is all it takes for her whole world to ignite

It is a drop in the ocean vs the ocean in a drop

How do they expect to make her heart stop

Like turning a faucet back off

At the mere thought of that freedom she scoffs

It is a fascinating thing to imagine

If the flood of thoughts and feelings could come in a fraction

To be able to live without all the racket

It pulls and taunts her like a straight jacket

It connects together her heart and brain

Thump thump thumping to the beat of her pain
