The Feeling You Could Never Give Me

Temporary is the touch of your fingers.
The sound of your voice fades away.
But that sweet melody still lingers.
At night it keeps me awake.

Your words--blocked by deaf ears.
While lyrics dig into my soul.
Slowly I realize my fear
Is maybe I can't love at all.

Because I'd rather sing the truth
Than lay it at your feet.
I'd rather find the proof,
In the button marked "repeat."

I'd rather spend my days
Alone I guess, but free.
Because that feeling when the music plays
Is Something you could never give me.
