Feelings

Feelings

are the innate drivers

of my life

Cruising long, sorrowful

roads,

Climbing elatious

peaks,

Never seeming to run

out of gas.

Sometimes I wish

their car might shut down.

I hope and pray and scream

about it

Until I no longer hear the

fresh, paved gravel

under the thick, rubber tires.

But before long it reemerges,

Naturally

the slow and heavy cRaCkle resumes.

When I truly thought all else was lost

  they persist

I feel once again

happy

and I am glad they have not left me behind

thus far
