Feigned
You’re standing there, alongside me. Triumphant we towered, but that was long ago. Fast forward a few years and we are still together, closer than ever, but the sands of time shift and friendships fade. The days are dark and it seems you stand tall with me, but we are both sinking. (Another way in which we are similar.) You used to agree with everything I said even if it was dumb, to spare my feelings perhaps? Now all I get is a scolding that leaves me speechless. I fear we are transcending each other in our own ways. I fear you’ll leave me behind. I fear you. We can’t just call it quits, we both have far too much invested in our friendship, and I for one refuse to let that slip away, but I don’t know if you feel the same. If things do go sour I want you to know, it was worth all of the while.
