Felix

Without pen and paper,

My mind would not even try.

But without my dear nephew,

My heart and complete essence would surely die.

If I did not have this little boy,

My mind would turn dark

With pain and sorrow

As he is my flaming spark.

Each day I try to help him walk.

We practice up and down my hall.

I’m always right behind him,

In case he begins to fall.

He is everything I could ever hope for

And everything I never knew that I needed.

My love has been pulsing with adoration

Ever since this bond was first seeded.

He is the most important being to me

And will be forever more.

The absence of his giggles and hugs

Would leave my soul all too sore.

I never want to see him hurt

Or see him as hate’s prey.

I only wish to cherish him

And see his beautiful smile every day.
