Feminist
why are you a feminist? she asks
good question, i say to her
and begin my explanation.
i believe in equality,
i believe that men and women alike
should be treated with the utmost love and respect.
that girls should build eachother up,
create bonds and friendships
instead of scars and wounded emotions.
that men should think of women as
intelligent, brave, and strong
before labeling them as pretty,
or ugly, or too this or too that.
that girls grow up learning
they can become anything
they put their mind to.
why am i a feminist? you ask
because of you, my dear,
and thousands of other girls
that feel lonely, less than, and unwanted.
