Ferocity

where were you when my heart was in my hands and blisters were on my feet where were you when i forgot to wear make up for weeks and they asked me if i was tired where were you when the paint hit the floor and the clutter in my mind turned to hoarding Hoarding unspoken thoughts and books piled so high that they push through my scalp leaving holes where there should be horns Fey whisper vulgar sweetness into my ear they nibble onto the sides of my pearlesque skin until sweet syrup turns my hair into a safe haven Strand after strand turns into a sheath of obsidian careful not to touch looks are deceiving Memories are deceiving the swift of the hand pressed onto my thigh only brings back bittersweet regret Familiar faces become statues of disappointment and lonliness seep into the walls Frescoes peel as the water from their chalky tears drenches every surface in sight From the outside in visions of tar black lungs and hollow bones make their way towards empty drive in theatres When you have truly given up your body starts to give up i would like to give up in a deserted drive-in
