A Few of my Favorite Things

Raindrops on roses,

And whiskers on kittens...

No, I'm just kidding.

Besides, not everyone's a big fan of mittens.

Unfortunately my name is not Julie

My name is Maya.

I love God, writing, books,

Watermelons, cantaloupes, not papayas.

HAHA clever, right?

A clever rhyme indeed.

But still know this is my poem still,

And these words are MY rhyming, colorful beads.

I'm in love with great movies,

I overanalyze the camera shots and dialogue the actors say.

Musicals are great too,

And I'd KILL to see a great play!

Social media outlets are great to me,

All but Twitter.

I'm sometimes cynical,

But hardly EVER bitter.

Poetry is always great

No matter what format;

Whether it's deep and philosophical and liberating

Or cute and about a cat.

I'm sure there are plenty more,

But it'll all be too long and too much, see.

I hope this poem as well as my others are likeable.

Because, when it comes to this poem at least, it's ALL about me!
