Fields of Gold

House is quiet the hallway still A silence rests on the windowsill, The heavy thump of a happy tail Has drifted off on a Summer gale, But though you’ve left this earthly ground A greater place is what you found. You’re running now through fields of gold With spirit, bright and heart so bold, Soaring high, like a flying dove Wrapped in the light of eternal love, No more ache of tired bones Just gentle winds and the softest tones. I look to the sky when the day is through Sending a quiet hello to you, And when the night is dark and clear I feel your shadow hovering near, Watching you pass in the stars above Forever guarded by my love.
