Fight.
Drape your abandoned dreams
Along the side of this worn path;
Watch as they slowly decay
Beside the world's forgotten hopes.
Miles and miles of discarded thoughts
Stretch far beyond the horizon;
How disheartening it is to witness
The product of obstructed motivation.
We are taught to believe we are unique,
Individuals with separate ideals,
But we are the same at our cores,
Created from similar materials,
Given the chance for unparalleled greatness.
Our opportunities lie at every turn,
Waiting patiently for us to acknowledge,
Silently observing as we waste precious moments
Behind the manufactured goals society has bestowed.
How do we become cognizant of our potential,
Aware of this hidden force within ourselves,
Rather than voluntarily deteriorating
On this decaying and exhausted trail?
Why do we so readily accept what is asked of us,
As opposed to fighting for the chance
To blaze a new trail, to take a separate path?
Would life’s accomplishments not taste sweeter,
If that which we achieved was fought for
Against the greatest adversities, with your own mind,
In contrast to having every step dictated by those
Who claim to be the epitome of knowledge?
Forge your own awareness of the world,
Rename the things we’ve come to familiarize with,
Believe in the possibility that anything can be done,
And accept wholeheartedly, that one day
You will die.
Do what you must to understand,
For the only way you may fight this end,
Is through a constant battle for your life;
Eternally clashing with preconceived ideals,
In an ongoing search for ever-evading happiness.
