The Fight

I never know when it’s about to hit

The overwhelming feeling of darkness

I can’t shake it or make it disappear

It is always there.

It drags me deeper into its depth

Holding onto me tighter and tighter

Till it is impossible to breathe or fight

I want to give up.

All I can see and feel is emptiness

It greets me like an old unwanted friend

The darkness is lingering longer than usual

This must be it.

I lay back my mind in a whirlwind

Closing my eyes images flash quickly

Snapshots, moments in time

I can’t give up.

The tears come quietly

I don’t want it to be this way

There is more than this to life

I want to fight.
