Fight the Fear
8:15 am
Oh no.
I have no friends here.
It's my first day of high school in a totally new state!
How could I fit in?
This is too overwhelming.
I'm going back to sleep.
8:40 am
"It's time to get up!"
Absolutely not.
Maybe I will take a year off.
I'm young.
I should have fun these years, right?
I should also sleep more often.
Apparently adults don't get as much.
I should stock up on all the sleep I can get now.
8:45 am
"I said get up!!"
I can't. I can't.
What if they laugh at me?
What if they make up lies?
What if my leggings have holes?
What if they make fun of my laugh?
I'm running out of time.
How do I do this?
Think about it...
You're new.
They will have an interest in you.
It gives you a good an easy excuse to introduce yourself.
But what if..?
Okay. No more "what if's".
You cannot be concerned with the "what if's".
Get up.
9:00 am
Alright. Alright.
You can do this.
Just get in the car to go.
You look good.
There's no holes in your leggings!
That's a plus!
Positive thinking.
No "what if's".
9:15 am
Walk in.
It's okay.
You're doing good.
"Hi. My name is Laurie. Are you new?"
Oh my! Someone is talking to me!
I was right!
They would take interest.
8:15 am (the next day)
Oh yes.
You can do this.
No "what if's".
You have friends here.
So what if you're new?
Be confident in you.
