Fight of the Fittest

I am smart, successful, and by societies standards, very attractive.

Never will I hang around people that will,

negatively influence my thoughts.

Never will I choose a substance that will mess up my mind.

Never will I be in a situation where,

I cannot remember where I am or who I am.

Never will I sell my possessions, mind, body, or spirit

in order to: obtain a high.

Never again will I experience a daily battle to,

get easy money.

Never again will I lie, cheat, or steal.

Never again will I lose the trust of the ones I love.

Oh, no. Not me. I’m too wise for that.

I’ve come too far to relapse.

Once I felt the scorch of Hell,

just by standing in doorway,

I vowed to never give into the lie of society.

The lie of obtaining happiness, love, and success by any means necessary.

And for the first time in a long time, I have seen the value of life.

I am wiser, stronger, and by my standards, a survivor.
