Fighting Circumstance

Everything that falls

Falls hard.

knock knock knock

On the floor

Hear the worms

rooting for

The quiet. The silent.  And the Steeps

You smash through

hard wood planks

and slowly rise

toward the warmth

Of the sun.

Hear that whack whack whack

Of the engines,

grumbling of your stomach,

future in the distance.

Your alive wretched girl,

You make it when you fail.
