Fighting Fate

Brought up as a girl

Never allowed as a boy

A fate forced on me

Grew older and tried

To live an expected lie

One with pink and bows

Childhood passed too fast

I still remained, un-whole, strange

My body transformed

I was torn, broken

A man’s mind, a woman’s frame

Never reconciled

The mirror my foe

I altered my woman’s fate

And embraced myself

Cropped hair, ties, and belts

My mind and body agree

At last, I am me
