Fighting for the Oxymonacanthus

Dear Millennials and iGeneration,

Known for your Apple product addiction,

Known for your supposedly advanced technology,

But are you also known for your contribution to humanity?

Are you guys recognized as the ones who took it upon themselves to help the earth,

Or are you known as the ones who did nothing to stop this curse?

Years from now you will look back,

But what will you remember?

Will you remember how you turned your back on the crazy weather,

Will you remember all those times you ignored the news,

And how you only wanted to get more views?

See I was going to start off by apologizing to the future generations for our sea levels rising.

I was going to apologize to all the kids who will suffer,

I was going to apologize for how they will see the ocean’s color,

But maybe it is not too late.

If you are ready to go down without a fight, then fine.

Say goodbye to the Orange-spotted filefish also known as the Oxymonacanthus longirostris,

But years from now, don't look back and be remorseful,

Because you were the one who considered this earth too unmeaningful.

You were the one that turned your back on all the dying species,

And you will be the one that will tell your children that while they were dying

You were at home, hiding.

Hiding from your responsibilities,

Hiding from the begs and the pleadings of the beautiful species that were not fought for,

Hiding from the deaths and tragedies in the Philippines due to our irresponsibility.

Now stop!

Do you want to see all of this unravel,

Or do you want to say that you changed after reading this on your laptop?

So iGeneration, let’s win this battle!

Starting today fight for this earth,

So that years from now we can look back in great mirth.

Let this not be our last battle,

Because together there is nothing we can't handle!
