Figuring It Out
-When we are toddlers all we know is yes, no, maybe so.
-When we’re preteens all we care about are recess, the jungle gym, and video games.
-When we’re teens all that is on our mind is lust, sex, and pimples.
-When we’re in our twenties, all that’s important is sex, alcohol, and work.
-But all I know is sex, survival, and violence.
-I don’t know which category to put myself in,
-Mentally speaking.
-Because each day a different personality escapes from inside of me.
-What was important to me then is still important to me now.
-But what’s important to me now will leave the future me in pieces.
-Priority is a scary word, going in one ear and out of the other.
-The fear of growing up isn’t really a huge issue.
-It’s just the fact that I don’t want to be the one with the responsibilities.
-But I don’t want to be treated like a child, either.
-Do I really know what I want?
-Is fire and ice something that I should be thinking about this point in my life?
-Or am I just simply confused, in all?
-I’m not Poe nor am I a toddler.
-I need to get a grip on reality.
-I need to face my own fears.
-I need to figure this out.
