Filtered
Under tamed Shir'templed hair, lies a lion's mane of withered care.
Unraveing sunlight from toes to mane tips
From my eyes to my knees
From my hips to my lips
A golden girl hides beneath Mary Kay,
Underneath off brands and sweaters overlaid
Transparent through laughs
Opaque to the eye
All it takes: a smile for me to fly.
Girls own the day thanks to their Brita treatment
I own the day thanks to my own achievements.
Unfiltered though, there is so much to learn
It will be my true love who will show concern.
My mind works on auto correct, I completely overthink
I'm insecure, suggested a shrink
My thoughts eat my time
I reminisce on what was good
I'm poisoned by your crimes
I double think before I speak more than I should
It is what makes me who I am.
As sad
Daunting as it may be
It's the unfiltered image of who no one is meant to see.
Unfiltered I am weak
I break and brittle
I have fears I have dreams
I rage inside from corruption.
I want to run
To disown what was given
Remember what was right.
Neglect what is wrong
Yet hope for the best.
I love what is not mine
Cry for help.
Yearn for what was lost
Shun all evil
I feel surrounded.
Shred every word
Cut every string,
Stop listening, speaking
I reflect who you truely are.
I replay moments,
Time
And time
Again.
Watch as I learn
Stop the tape.
I reflect
Remember who I am
Unfiltered
Alone.
