Filtered World

Filtered World

In a world that is filtered,
Filtered through Photoshop and lies,
I have lost sight of who I am
Everyone has

In a world where I can’t walk outside
Without feeling insecure
I cannot hear who I am
No one can

In a world where my selfie
Has to be covered in makeup
And smeared with effects
To get the amount of likes that I need to
Make it through another day

In a world where my selfie
Has to include my cleavage
And sexual harassment in the comments

In a world where my selfie
Has nothing to do with myself
I still try to be me
I am grasping onto what I cannot keep

In a world where myself
Is not enough
I am still me
And I stand up for who I am
Behind the lenses of this filtered world
