The Final Goodbye

The day has come

They told me it would be my final goodbye.

I didn’t understand.

Why did you have to leave so soon?

You were so strong

You fought through war.

Doesn’t that mean you can fight through anything?

They handed us this flag

To honor your hard work.

They said it was a gift from the president

But why would we want a gift, when we were giving you up?

They gave us their condolences

But they don’t understand.
