Finally, a Family

Because he loved me, he took me away.

Because he loved me, he took me for granted.

Because he love me, my hands are stained with blood.

He left, and the blame was all on me.

Because he didn't love me, not really.

He didn't give a damn.

He used me and abused me and left me for dead.

Bespoke to broken, my heart was shattered, left in tatters,

And I was on my own.

But I found something else, in those who really love me.

And I found something more, in those who really care.

Like being a shoulder to cry on when you're just expected to teach.

Like telling me I'm worth it when you didn't even have to be my friend.

Like helping me through my depressive daze when you're only my mother,

or Like giving me everything a sister normally would keep.

I found something more in the ways you helped me

And I found a family I didn't expect.

A mother, a sister, the only blood relations,

but a teacher and a peer that chose to be my light.

Because you love me, you helped me through,

Because I love you, I'll help you too.
