Finally, Poetry
In school, they teach you the letters of the alphabet.
The letters can come together
to make words,
that can make sentences,
that can make paragraphs,
that can make essays.
"We use words to communicate and express our ideas,"
is what most of us say.
Is that the only purpose?
There is more to do,
more to see,
more to experience.
Letters come together in my mind,
and exit through my mouth or hands.
I talk to friends, to my parents.
I write essays, answers to questions.
I write to think.
I write to remember.
I organize my thoughts in lines when there isn't enough space in my brain.
I write down a line.
I write down another line.
I write down a third line.
What does this make?
"A stanza," tells me my teacher.
This thing called a "stanza" helps me talk about what's going on.
I can write out my thoughts, my emotions.
I finally find what I like.
"Poetry."
