35.1 percent of highschoolers use marijuana before they graduate

And parents wonder why there is so much developing hate

in a world where tiny cartoons on our screens 

show more emotion than the average teen

While drug use skyrockets

all of the poetry and writing on paper is shoved into pockets

being sent through the washer on high

just to cover up a lie that no kid is dorky enough to write

but has no problem engaging in a fight

while intoxicated their personalities only become more and more faded

any sign of humanity that was on a page

is sent up in flames but all they can see is a phase

Hello! Wake up! please cause a break up 

between the never ending cycle of puff here scribble words there

true expression is silenced from poetry and writing 

yet the most alarming problem is violence?

Our generation is losing the sense to speak up

unless its aimed at a can being poured in their cup

This has to stop unless you want your child to be escorted by a cop

Find the value in emotion and express what you mean

I am begging you please do not be the hopeless teen.
