Find Yourself

Throughout history there has never been a person who life hasn't abused.

As wonderful as it would be life’s events are never yours to pick and choose.

The world goes on whether or not you live miserably or in power.

One moment you could live a life of peaches and cream but it could very easily turn so sour.

But in a story, in a poem you can change the words and tone.

Anything is possible and nothing is ever set in stone.

You’re the creator, the decider, the life giver. You’re the God.

You don’t have to settle for a life or a world that is flawed.

The greatest friend I’ve ever made has the been the words that fill my head.

I always knew that they would be loyal and never leave me for dead.

They protected me from the coldness of the world and were my strong shield.

And within my stories and my poems I allowed my true self to be revealed.

I discovered myself alongside the characters that over the years I refined.

I gained a mind of my own and no longer was I blind.

I saw the people and world around me for what it was and could be.

I wouldn’t be another people to sit about and wait hopelessly.

I live to write and write to live because words to me are like air.

Without them I couldn’t breathe or live, without them I would be in despair.

The world is cruel, but words are kind every day and every night.

And so, I guess that would mostly explain why I so love to write.
