(F)inding Herse(L)f (A)l(W)ays Beautifu(L) (E)ven Where (S)he (S)tands
Wake up,
Get up,
Comb your teeth, brush your hair,
Whoops, sorry, I messed up.
Make up,
Mess up,
Fix up,
Go outside, feel their stares,
Trip your heels, on the stairs,
Whoops, sorry, I'm not perfect.
Wake up,
Get up,
Brush your teeth, comb your hair,
Make up, dress up,
dress down, shirt and skirt.
So tired of being judged.
So tired of not being me.
...
Maybe I want this poem to rhyme,
Maybe I want this poem to be a rap,
Because that's who I am and it's time to go from a penny to a dime,
I'm not one to mix and match,
I could never be the person you wanted me to be,
Better be careful before I put a cap in your ass
I woke up this morning,
Thank you Lord.
Look in the mirror and see this sexy devil reflecting me.
Try to make another score.
No. Stop.
Put the mascara down, turn off the curling iron,
Look in the mirror and what do you see?
If beauty had a size, you'd be Saturn.
Wake up,
Get up,
Comb your hair, brush your teeth,
Make up on, make up off,
Dress on, rock on.
Go outside, embrace their stares.
Strut your stuff up those stairs,
I'm not perfect, I'm better than that.
