Dear Ex-Lover,

Sometimes I feel like you could write a book of all the attributes that would make you happy

And knowing me, I’d go and try to embody them

And knowing you, you, still wouldn't be satisfied

See, I fall the hardest for the broken ones

no, not just a lil’ dent or bent or scrapped up

but like the real broken ones

the shattered ones

the lost ones

because I always want to be the ultimate puzzle solver

flipping, turning, shifting your jagged edges until they fit just right

I always want to glue you back together

Molding you into a fine craft

& brushing away the blemishes

the ones you see so readily

the ones I seem to fall in love with more, each and every time

Sometimes I want you to be whole so badly, I break down in the process

cutting myself on all your brokenness...

your jagged edges pierce into my sides

forgetting to be cautious and to use protection when entering a hazard zone,

I slowly begin to shatter too

losing myself in you

withering down piece by piece

I loose my peace

Trying to build a home within you

See, I want to sit here and shine light on the truth, give it a clear view

Us, women put up with too much shit and the time to stand up is way over due

The nurturers of the world, need some TLC too

See, why is it that we build you up for you to tear us down?
Love so hard ,  just to find out your heart is a ghost town …

You ask for my love, but can never reciprocate it back

We enter these caution zones, ungloved, unmasked, pure hearted: ready to give our all

Knowing that every time you lead to the ultimate downfall

But is it bad that I don’t mind being a little shattered for you?

And that every time you call, I pick up, on cue.

Yes, I know that I was saying that some TLC was long over due

But overall I just want you to build a home within me too.

Sincerely,

Girl
