Finding Light
Look all around
Not a soul to be seen.
All alone.
You have no hint of a future, no idea of a past.
Scared for the present,
as moments rush past.
Prayers
drip down a chin,
and shatter on the cold floor.
A broken crystal
All alone.
A blind step.
A stumble.
Daddy? She whispers.
Daddy? She screams.
Run blindly. Speak blindly.
Make mistakes you can't reverse.
Go on, you're all alone.
Everyone is there.
But you.
Who is there to hear you, my dear?
Who is there to light your path?
To take you by the shoulders, and lead
you to Tomorrow?
A land bright and warm, a place built to last?
Such sorrow, such sorrow.
It cannot be helped.
Stumble. Cry.
Don't give up hope yet.
No use in crying, no need to get upset.
Watch out! You're falling. Falling!
Reach for a handhold,
a place to rest.
For darkness shoves at you,
Down to the place you're sure to detest.
Grabbing wildly, you catch hold
onto a hand,
so bright that the shadows cower,
and run away.
Look into the light, my dear.
Step into the light.
See? Your father has come for you.
Your father is by your side.
He'll catch you when you fall, from now until the end.
You're not alone. Ever.
Sniffle.
Safe in Daddy's arms once again.
