Finding Me

Ask me where I've been and I could tell you

The depths of my soul were once ice cold

I've grown to love

I've grown to hate

I've grown to strive hard

I've grown to appreciate

Ask me where I've been and I could tell you

The depths of my soul were once ice cold

A wayward child

I was a victim from the start

Sincerity verses beguile

I couldn't tell the two apart

Then while giving my all

I lost the best part of me

Where the sweetest apples would fall

Then became the bitterest tree

Ask me where I've been and I could tell you

The depths of my soul were once ice cold

This pain in my stomach

How did it get here?

Through my mind I would rummage

And the answer still wasn't clear

I began to hate my reflex ion

So I’d hide all the mirrors

I was yearning for affection

At a cost my heart couldn't bare

Ask me where I've been and I could tell you

The depths of my soul was once ice cold

One day I woke up

With the thought that I would die

Realizing that much

It wasn't healthy to hold it all inside

I’d stare at the wall

And then I would cry

Coming to terms with it all

Cause for so long I was living a lie

Ask me where I've been and I could tell you

The depths of my soul were once ice cold

A woman is a flower

She is delicate and soft

She has strength and power

She can protect us all

Save the creatures of the earth

And still stand tall

But when she didn't know her worth

Her pedals began to fall

So one last time….

Ask me where I've been and I could tell you

The depths of my soul were once ice cold

But then I learned the cure

As I grew old

Loving me was truly key

And the stronger the love grew

The more I began to feel free

And next thing I knew

The shackles were off my feet

And the world around me was calm

And I could hear my heart beat

And my purpose was fulfilled

And I found me!
